Best beaches in Zante

Zakynthos does not work as one single beach strip. The east and northeast are easier and sandier, the south belongs to the marine-park landscape, the north mixes boats with clearer water, and the west is more rugged and scenic.

Beach zones worth reading first

1

Tsilivi, Planos, Alykanas and Alykes

These are the easier sandy choices when you want a straightforward swim day with services and less complicated sea logic.

2

Kalamaki and the Laganas Bay edge

This side works for softer sand and slower water time, but it comes with more conservation awareness because of the protected turtle coast.

3

Vasilikos beaches such as Gerakas, Banana, Porto Roma and Porto Zoro

The southeastern belt gives more variety in the same day, from wider sand to smaller coves and a more scenic southern feel.

4

Agios Nikolaos, Makris Gialos and Xigia

The north and northeast suit clearer water, a more marine day structure and easier combinations with boat departures.

5

Porto Limnionas, Porto Vromi and west-coast swim logic

The west is less about classic all-day sand and more about rocky entries, dramatic water and scenic positioning.

Useful notes

How this page is grounded

This page is grounded in stable coastal geography, protected-area context and public destination material for Zakynthos.

Sea conditions, boat operations, facilities and live access rules can change, so verify those separately before you go.

Choose the coast that fits the whole day

On Zante, one well-matched beach zone almost always works better than trying to chase the whole island in a single swim plan.
